Opposition leaders should stop blaming others - Mohd Puad

BUTTERWORTH — Government leaders in Pakatan-ruled states should stop blaming others for their incapabilities in administering the state or solving the people’s problems, Umno Supreme Council member Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi said today.
“They should cease the practice of blaming other people or the previous administrations. They should realise that they are the ones in power now and responsible for the state, not the previous government,” he added.
The people, he said, should open their eyes and realise the truth about the opposition pact, which lacked understanding among them.
He said the inability of leaders in the Selangor and Penang governments to resolve problems would affect the people’s livelihood.
“There is ceaseless fighting among the leaders with everybody expressing dissatisfaction with one another over issues on liquor, Kampung Buah Pala and about Jeff Ooi’s statement.
“Based on these controversies, it is only apt that Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng give other leaders to take over their posts,” he told reporters after opening the Batu Kawan Umno divisional delegates meeting here today.
He said the inability of state government leaders to administer the state well could cause the people to suffer.
As such, he said, constituents in Permatang Pasir should give a clear signal to the opposition that it had failed to bring change to Penang, despite being in power for more than a year.
In another development, Mohd Puad, who is Deputy Education Minister, advised Umno members to discuss seriously on the proposed amendments to the party constitution.
“The proposed amendments are important because Umno has to keep abreast with current developments and not to focus on its members alone.
Umno is not only for the Malays, but it also has to be just to other races,” he added.
